The ongoing debates on sustainability throughout the world reveals the truth how much significant and striking the subject matter is. There are pluralistic challenges against the existence of the world and especially, Nepal where we are living from the view point of sustainability of the land we are sharing. It is not only the massive population growth, but many other grievous problems compel us to think going deep down regarding the sustainable use of resources thinking what could be the future of the future parenthood.  In order to protect the earth, everyone has to be responsible and do some positive efforts immediately so there can a seed of sustainability be sown.

Some innovative ideas that I am going to highlight in this article are towards the direction of how everyone can foster the seeds of sustainability in the community he/she lives. These ideas can be really be useful in order to secure the future of the upcoming generation. We can, at a certain level materialize the concept of sustainable development throughout our own locality and then gradually the message goes to the rest of the world being effective. I’m optimistic that these ideas regarding the sustainable use of resources and bio-friendly tools will obviously alter the heterogeneous faces bringing out the bright light of prosperity, pleasure, progress and peace by opening the various dimensions of prospects hidden in Nepalese land. The steps and the tools that I would like to suggest here will be expected to do something positive.  Similarly, these tips will encourage and energize people in the direction to address the social, cultural, and environmental and many other complications faced by the nations in order to attain positive changes in the environment watering the plant of sustainability.

The practical tools to sustainability can be presented in this way:
1. Cultivate Less Consuming Habits:
Human beings are guided by such a wrong trend that they buy more than what they need. This attitude may help a less number of people for a limited period of time but, a large number of people in a long run get problematized out of it. Therefore, to achieve sustainability, it is strongly desirable to consume less.

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:

a. Let’s not buy goods until you are in an extreme need of something. I suggest everyone to do the same as if they find it is possible. It reduces the energy used for transportation. The energy left can be used for any other cause.
b. Let’s consume locally available food rather than processed foods, foreign or imported goods like noodles, biscuits, machineries and so on.
c. Let’s use water parsimoniously while washing clothes, dishes and so on. Simultaneously, the same water can be used for various uses like: watering the plants, flowers, etc. and even the collected water out of washing can be used for 4 or 5 times and be reused it for the further use.
d. Let’s switch off the machines like, fans, computers, coolers, chillers if they are no more in use.

2. Producing Less Waste:
Production of waste can be limited and controlled by those who make waste. This is to say, humans create the waste and they know better the controlling measures. Innumerable ways we have unutilized and left as they are to minimize the waste produced from different sources. These can be the cardinal ways to the attainment of sustainability.

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:

a. Let’s use vegetables like potatoes, pumpkins, etc. unpeeled. A very simple example is: the peel of oranges can be dried up and grinded and later on can be used as face washing powder. There are many such ways as they can be useful to humans.
b. Let’s use anything that you have in a maximum way. Let not throw anything without thinking its any other use.
c. Let’s write on both sides of paper. If we finish off writing on the both sides, let’s think it for any other use like decoration; giving it for reuse purpose or anything else the purpose something called eco-friendly.
d. Let’s limit our shopping believing in the maxim, ‘no human greed can be fulfilled easily.’ The more one buys, the less one says good bye to his/her purchasing desire.
e. The manufacturers of mobile recharge cards, noodles, soaps, refills of ball pens, the ball pen chambers, bottles, etc. should make advertisements for taking back their remain products to the industries.

3. Pollution-free Day:
There may not be any country in the world whether they are developed, developing or underdeveloped which haven’t been victimized by pollution. Everyone is familiar with the fact that no friendly or hospitable pollution does to us, it is merely such a strangest enemy that we have ever had harmed by. The bases of sustainability have been shaken by pollution. To minimize the level of pollution and secure longer life expectancy in humans, can we do these?

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:
a. Let’s encourage people to use cycles or to have a walk if they have enough time.
b. Let’s suggest to every government in the world to have strong legal provisions to celebrate ‘National Cycle Day’ or ‘Pollution-free Day’ once a week.
c. Let’s use alternative sustainable fuel sources like: solar power, thermo-energy, electricity, bio-gas, etc. rather than fossil fuel.
d. Let’s go with electric vehicles. It should be everyone’s choice.
e. Let’s use public means of transportation.

4. Parental care to Mother Earth:
Everything has got motherly care out of the earth, why the earth has been uncared in this way? This query is to be questioned by every sane to the insane ones expecting a generous help and support towards the service of the earth. The amazing habit of humans, we notice is they have taken anything or everything from the earth, why they haven’t given anything in return?

4.1 Utilization of Rain Water and Rational Use of Water Resources
One of the remarkable keys to sustainability is to utilize the water resources and rain water. If we can do this, obviously a great number of people will be benefited and the crises of water can be solved with an ease.

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:
a. Let’s aware people with the fact, ‘water is to be given intense respect as it is life for every animal;’ suggesting not to throw anything and keeping it always clean and fresh.
b. Let’s reuse water once used before 10 days collecting in pots in an organized way.
c. Let’s motivate people to turn off the taps, showers, if they are no more in use.
d. Let’s use rain water rather than underground water. The researches say if the entire world does the same, definitely it can quench the thirst above 40% of the world population in more than 80 different countries in the world.
e. Let’s be in oneness to ban irrational and insane mixing of harmful chemicals in water resources.

4.2 Rational Use of Forest Resources
The amazing earth gives the shelter to some animals through water resources, whereas, forest resources have become a secure shelter for the rest of the animals. With the alarming rate of population increasement, the existence of wildlife along with forest resources is in extreme crisis.

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:
a. Let’s reduce global consumption of wood suggesting people to use any other substance instead of woods.
b. Let’s encourage plantation and afforestation progarmmes on auspicious occasions to mark ‘Birth Day Celebrations, Anniversary of one’s Death and Marriage.’ One has to plant at least a sapling or more as they like.
c. Let’s strongly discourage deforestation with a compulsory policy: ‘A tree cutting must be replaced by at least 2 plants.’
d. Let’s discourage over grazing, it is too destructive form the view point of ecological balance.
e. Let’s have a search or research on herbs and their various uses and how they can be usefully used in medicinal companies.

4.3 Formation of a Global Network Combating against Global warming
Global warming is not merely the issue of a particular place of a particular country; it is a concern of the entire globe. So, if a global network is established aiming at combating against global warming, we hope our earth will be cooled down with a conducive environment where the seed of sustainability multiplies well.

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:

a. Let’s be aware of and discourage the machines producing harmful gases in the name of urbanization and being modern. Let’s avoid cooler, chillers; they are producing very dangerous gases against our hygiene.
b. Let’s do something concrete in the direction to nullify the wars with the Weapons of Mass Destruction throughout the world generating the awareness on ‘ozone layer depletion’, ‘highly increasing temperature’ and the adverse effects of global warming.
c. Let’s reduce the pollution level and pile up the wastes in a systematic way.

5. Plastics Packaging Consciousness (PPC Campaign):
Modern life without plastics, can rarely be imagined. Plastics has become the parts and parcels of everyone’s personal life. Can’t we avoid it permanently from our life? It is better to realize that it only harms our health and ultimately our life can be smashed like a glass.

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:
a. Let’s use eco-friendly products, vehicles, goods and give up the habit of eco-hostile things.
b. Let’s use cloth grocery bags rather than plastics bags.
c. Let’s have a common consensus to combat against the production of plastics as the most of the cities of the world are polluted with it.
d. Can plastics companies be banned?

6. Sustainability for me, for my Society and Environment:
‘Sustainability for me, for my Society and Environment’ is to be validated as the best mantra which gives the life blood to the earth. Whoever the humans they are, they should work hard to preserve the nature, its processes in a genuine way giving the intense importance to the earth. Otherwise, no one can say what would be the tomorrow of the Earth? We pray there won’t be a doom day coming soon. Will there be it or not?: it all depends greatly upon us how sensitively and sincerely we act.

Following suggestions are prescribed in this regard:
a. Let’s carry out developmental activities not harming the bearing capacity of the earth and ecological processes.
b. Let’s try to solve the woeful situations of water and fuel with the use of wind and clouds. It may not be that very practical in Nepalese context.
c. Let’s connect the toilets for bio-gas production.
d. Let’s encourage farmers to have ‘earth worms’ production and use compost manure rather than the use of chemical fertilizers.
e. Let’s educate farmers to use less pesticides, insecticides and chemical fertilizers in their farms. Instead, they are to be encouraged for organic farming and so on.

These ideas can crucially be useful throughout the world in order to bring positive changes in the field of sustainability offering world some useful (tools) options in the direction to hail future generation happily.
