An Attempt to Create Some Imagist Poems

The old woman considered death
As a black dog in front of the door
Waiting and kneeling down.

The flew across the sky
Like the lazy man
Without any meaningful purpose.

The sun came up
Like the king in a majestic grandeur
With all his titular might
To fight light.

The factory was quiet
As a silent and tranquil sea
Making no movement
Giving the sense of serenity and stillness.

She felt too happy
As if she got the most precious award
In her life
Which is all radiant and all compassionate
Like Buddha in his enlightenment.

Depression settled
As a magician’s performance
Which was as quick and as mysterious
That nobody noticed.

He remembered the past
Lamenting like Eliot in the Waste Land
Drawing the allusions from myths, history and the Upanishad
Giving solution with ‘Da’, ‘Dayadhayam’ and ‘Damyata’
To the hollow and holocaust
Like world.

The mountain in the storm
Remained as determined and dutiful like Chinese police on a duty
Qualifying, refining and immunizing
Further.

Anger came
A fairy in a fairy tale
Coming quickly and returning
hurriedly.

The city at rush hour
Is where is every one has no time to stand and stare syndrome
That keeps everyone busy,
But not dizzy.

(It was a part of assignment given by Dr. Shreedhar Lohani as we went for outing at Nagarkot, 8th and 9th April, 2011. I think Dr. Lohani does not need any introduction for readers. Those who listen about him for the first time, he holds degrees from Universities in Nepal, England, and the USA. At present he is a professor at the Central Department of English, Tribhuvan University Kirtipur, Kathmandu. Some of them were recited among M. Phil. Colleagues along with the reverence presence our teachers Dr. Anand Sharma, Dr. Arun Gupto and Mr. Prakash Subedi.)
